English!!! A language right!? Its more than that in this country. It defines whether you are eligble for a job or you are in a ‘urban’ community. We have developed a prototype for a person who can or cannot speak English. But how it happened?

When the britishers arrived and established East India Company in the 17th century they could not communicate with us. And they needed CLERKS! So then what happened is that they formed a committee and they invited T.B Macaulay who was a British historian and Macaulay came to conclusion that we need to educate Indians but we don’t want them to ask questions , we need who obeys orders, works accordingly to it and communicate in ENGLISH.

Well thats how this process started this gave rise to our ‘wonderful’ education system as well as our obsession with English. If a person can’t speak English than he/she automatically becomes inferior to others even if he has more technical abilities than those . Well you guys might be thinking that oh you need to have good communication skills and all. Let me tell you countries like Japan and China doesn’t even recognize English on a day to day basis and yet they are leading the global market. And I know India is a diverse country and it has so many languages without recognizing anyone as a National Language and for that reason English comes as a rescuer but we have to stop this obsession.

In other non-native countries English is taught as an optionl course but in India we have to choose a secondary language between Hindi or Sanskrit!!! English is compulsory in a country which has one of the oldest languages in the world. C’mon now.

Now a days kids call each other like ‘ Yo Wassup Dawg?’ but can’t say 57 in Hindi. This is the extent we have come to and are we doing anything about it NO!!! Ironically I am also writing this blog in English, right?

And now a days every single parent want their children to speak in English whether or not his/her child can even talk properly. This needs to stop if we can choose whether or not we want IT as an additional subject why not the same with English. Think again.

Fun Fact -: India is a diverse country and it was joined by other states thats why it is called REPUBLIC OF INDIA .
